Fareground - Austin
This is my first post and this blog will be a record of my design inspiration. A place to gather and share ideas. We recently went to Austin Texas for a pop-up show. While there is lots of cool places to visit in Austin, one place that was a surprising find in a middle of a busy downtown area is the Fareground Food Hall at the One Eleven Building. The One Eleven building has been an icon in the Austin skyline since 1987, the Fairground was a recent addition that started in 2015, created for tenants of the building and downtown patrons. The food hall has a good variety of food to choose from, but that wasn’t the surprising part. The modern designed interior space where the food hall is placed in was beautifully considered. The company responsible for the space was Michael Hsu Office of Architecture. Wood slats placed in a wave pattern creates a separated space but at the same time very open. Even the furniture was carefully picked out to match the thoughtful interior. One of my favorite pieces in the space was the geometric chandelier with seamless integration of LED’s into the frame. Inside the squares had a triangular mesh that gave the chandelier a different perspective as you walk closer to it. If you are in the area this is a great place to stop by for happy hour and to check out the space.
